The mission of Buzz Brass Fizz is to introduce chamber music for brass ensemble to worldwide audiences and most particularly, young people. This is achieved through accessible and entertaining musical shows in which music and theatre are combined in perfect harmony.

Buzz consists of two trumpets, a horn, a trombone, a bass trombone and a “fizzy” character. The themes of the shows are carefully designed to insure the best interaction between the music and the audience. The actor impersonates all the main characters while the musicians play supporting roles. Because it is performed from memory, the music fits perfectly in the staging of the performance and remains in the forefront.

Buzz invites its audience to rediscover music as they have never experienced or even imagined it before!

To date, Buzz’s achievements include:

  • 500 musitheatrical shows presented all over Canada;
  • 250 primary and secondary schools visited;
  • Many celebrated appearances in cultural institutions such as the city of Montreal’s Maisons de la culture network, the Palais Montcalm in Québec City, the Hector-Charland Theatre and the Orford Art Centre, among numerous others;
  • 100,000 spectators reached;
  • OPUS Prize 2007 – Production of the Year / Young Audiences for the show UnBUZZlievable! The History of Music. (Other finalists had included, among others, both the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the chamber group I Musici de Montréal);
  • Three critically-acclaimed albums;
  • Several musical performances broadcast on radio and television;
  • A performance at the Louvre in Paris, France, as part of Musicora 2008.
