Buzz Brass consists of two trumpets, a horn, a trombone and a bass trombone. In addition to carefully selected classics from the musical repertoire for brass quintet, the musicians perform original compositions and exclusive arrangements. Buzz Brass turns every show into a surprising, dazzling, enticing experience for all audiences!

 

Buzz's BIO



 

In the fall of 2002, Sylvain Lapointe launched Buzz Brass whose mission is to promote chamber music for brass ensemble. In addition to varied musical projects, Buzz Brass offers multidisciplinary shows, educational performances and recordings aimed at a large audience.

The ensemble consists of:

Sylvain Lapointe – artistic director / trumpet
Frédéric Gagnon – principal trumpet
Pascal Lafrenière – horn
Jason De Carufel – trombone
Sylvain Arseneau – bass trombone

Main achievements:
  • 600 musitheatrical shows and chamber music concerts performed all over Canada, from Vancouver to Magdalen Islands, Saskatchewan, Halifax, Ontario, Quebec, New-Brunswick and Prince Edward Island
  • 300 primary and secondary schools visited
  • Many celebrated appearances in professional venues and famous concert halls
  • 100,000 spectators reached
  • Several musical performances broadcast on radio and television
  • A performance at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, as part of Musicora 2008

Awards:

  • OPUS Prize 2007 – Production of the Year / Young Audiences for the show The History of Music (The finalists also included the world-renowned Orchestre symphonique de Montréal)
  • Three critically-acclaimed albums and a nomination to the 2010 ADISQ awards for “Album of the Year” in the classical music category / solo and small ensembles
